Welcome to the Samuel J. and Ethel LeFrak Center at Lakeside Prospect Park.  Lakeside is the largest and most ambitious project in Prospect Park since its creation nearly 150 years ago. Spanning 26 acres, this $74 million restoration by the Prospect Park Alliance transformed the southeast corner of the Park into a popular scenic and recreational destination. 

 

Lakeside offers year-round seasonal activities, dining, and special events. From ice skating on our two outdoor winter rinks to cooling off in our summer Splash Pad to exploring the Park on boats and bikes, Lakeside is Brooklyn’s premier recreational destination. Bluestone Lakeside Cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating set against a panoramic view of Lakeside’s rinks and Prospect Park Lake.  Bluestone features a distinctive menu with a full spectrum of dining options, from light bites to hearty and healthy chef-inspired sandwiches and desserts.

COVERED RINK:
Monday – Thursday: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 9:00am – 8:30pm
Saturday: 1:00pm – 9:00pm
Sunday: 1:00pm – 4:30pm

OPEN AIR RINK:
Monday – Thursday: 9:00am – 7:00pm
Friday: 9:00am – 8:30pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 9:00pm

FAQ

At what age can kids get on the ice?

For Skate School, where kids can skate independently with instructors, we suggest 5 years of age and older. But younger children, 3+ up, can get on the ice with a parent.

Do you have skate aids?

Yes – we have a limited number of skate aids which can be reserved in advance or, pending availability, rented on site.

Is there a height requirement to use the skate aids?

Yes, skate aids are intended for children no taller than 4 feet.

What size range of skates are available to rent?

Our skates start in size 8 for children and go up all the way to size 15 for adults.

Are Advance Tickets required to skate?

Advance Tickets are not required but are highly recommended.

What happens if it rains?

We are open Rain or Shine.

Can I get a refund or transfer my tickets to a different day or time?

No, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure you are able to attend the day and session time that you book.

Do you have a place to purchase food and drink?

Yes, Bluestone Cafe offers food and drink for purchase.

Can I bring in outside food and drink?

As we have Bluestone Cafe, no, outside food or drink is not permitted — with the exception of a birthday cake or birthday cupcakes.

Do you have lockers available for rental?

Yes — small locker $3, large locker $8, 2-hour time limit.

How do I sign up for Skate School, Hockey and Curling? And are skate rentals included?

Can I use the picnic tables for my own party and can I decorate them?

No, picnic tables are for public use on a first come, first serve basis, but may not be used for birthday party set-up.

Do I need my own equipment for stick and puck, open hockey and hockey leagues?

What happens if I buy a ticket for the open-air rink and it rains?

Generally, skaters will be required to skate on the rink they selected when they purchased tickets. If it rains, and if capacity allows it and / or if there is not programming happening on the covered rink, we will accommodate a switch if we can.

Do you have extended Holiday Hours?

Yes, we often do. Please check the homepage of the website for current hours.

Can I walk up and purchase a ticket?

Yes, pending availability and capacity.

Do I need to pay admission if I am not skating?

No, everyone is allowed into the facility, you only pay admission if you are skating.

Do you accept Apple Pay?

Yes.

How often do you resurface the ice?

Every 90 minutes.
